I hate people who blog about themselves and their boring lives

by

I find blogs where people solely talk about themselves and what they get up to every day weird, deluded and a bit mental. I guess people see these blogs as a sort of digital diary but isn’t the whole point of a diary that it’s for your eyes only? The appeal is in the secrecy, surely? Having a diary for the world to see must defeat the object, unless the whole thing is a desperate cry for help (which often appears to be the case).

It seems the aim of these blogs is to either gain some sympathy or fool the world into thinking they are fantastically interesting, busy, popular people who are constantly doing something incredible that you just have to read about. Or both.

I don’t know if many of them get a lot of hits – I’m sure some do from other oddballs all across the land who are genuinely interested in the birth of Lyla’s twins or whatever. But why would I need to know that Tom finally completeled his HNC in Microsoft Office and he hopes to soon be an office manager? The most ridiculous thing about these blogs is that they go into the stupidest amount of detail about every aspect of their dull lives. It is not unheard of for someone to list every meal they have every day and even show photographs. They will also take photos of every night out they’ve ever had and have a deep analysis for every friend and friend of a friend – what they are like, what they were wearing, how much less unattractive they were than them, what they drank, what their farts smelt like and so on.

The only time they will stop from lavishing fawning praise upon themselves on their hideous blogs is when they are making an emotional outburst in the hope of being offered some comforting responses. “Today I wanted to kill myself. I just couldn’t believe that Kathy on reception could be so cold towards me. She said that I was looking a bit sallow today. But then I had three Crunchies for lunch and I was happy again.”

Heh. But it IS funny though!? The more boring the better I say! It’s phenomenal how many people think they are actually interesting!

Honestly if you didn’t care you wouldn’t take the time to make a response on how other people talk about themselves non-stop.. Everyone talks about themselves (all the time) its just a part of who we are! Guess what?! My life isn’t the best but oh well..

Although I agree with the title of this post, I’d just like to ask, isn’t Blog a shortened form of Weblog? A personal log on the web, where ‘log’ is something where you write things that have happened that you’ve seen or experienced or just your thoughts about stuff in general?

This is a blog about your life, what you think about blogs about people lives, and so on and so on….so you hate your own blog??

Attention. with reference to your comments about those alleged Bloggers who blog about thenselves, and your distaste for them apparently.

Blogging on the Internet is just another forum for writers/jounalists to express themselves. It is a Free forum where you can express yourself, and air your views about any issue or event that impacts you.

Apparently it attracted your interest for you to be induced to give your opinion too.

And that too is the beauty and liberty that is available to all Internet users, hitherto was unheard of, least of all available.

Though it is kinda sad and silly, I don’t really care if people blog about themselves. If its their personal journal or whatever, that’s fine and makes sense cause its not gonna burn up in a house fire or something like that. What is annoying is when they link it all to their facebooks and twitters, etc like everyone needs to have a weekly update of their pregnancy or whatever. That’s when it gets a little too narcissistic to me.

Juliette, Obviously your life is uneventful and possibly very boring. That is why you are so envious.
